Our Services
Volunteer Washington County will act as a clearinghouse between members of the community who wish to serve and local agencies in need of qualified, dedicated volunteer service. Volunteer Washington County will be responsive to the unique needs of residents in our county and our services will evolve as needs arise. Initially we will:
- Recruit, train and recognize volunteers
- Match volunteers with opportunities to serve
- Track the economic impact of the volunteer force
- Facilitate collaboration among agencies to enhance grant procurement
- Maintain a centralized data base of nonprofits
- Advertise professional assistance when a need can not be filled by a volunteer
In time Volunteer Washington County may also offer the following services as needed:
- Develop a Time Bank, in which members swap hours of service for services rendered
- Assist local governments with recruiting volunteers to implement Emergency Preparedness Plans
- Initiate a Y.E.S. (Youth Employment Services) program to provide youngsters with hands on work and internship experiences
- Partner with local governments to promote city or countywide events
- Offer summer camp experiences for youths age 12-17, promoting volunteerism as fun way to make friends, make a difference and earn Student Service Learning hours needed for graduation
- Partner with the legal community to provide Pro Bono Legal Services Day.
